Continental's Mountain King comes available in a wide variety of casing and compound configurations to suit your needs. From the wire bead Performance - Pure Grip combination, focusing on durability and performance at an entry level price point, all the way to the top ProTection casing, Black Chili compound folding bead amalgamation, delivering the pinnacle of traction, rolling efficiency and protection.

What is the intended use?

Optimised for All Mountain and Trail disciplines, across a varity of terrains and conditions, Continental's 'do-it-all' Mountain King provides consitent and reliable characteristics all year round. The intermediate depth centre tread, is angled and positioned in an alternating pattern to deliver speed and superior rolling efficiency, whilst the more prominent shoulders offer all the stability and traction you need, hooking up in all most every style of corner.

Our verdict

An exceptionally versatile tyre on offer from Continental, performing well in all most all conditions and terrains. A must have Trail tyre for all year round use up on the mountain.

Casing (choose from the following)

  • ProTection

    The ProTection technology gives Continental tyres their perfect mix of fast rolling, grip and puncture protection. Four plies under the tread and three in the sidewalls make this possible. The whole tyre attains greater resilience and becomes less vulnerable to damage.

  • Shieldwall

    ShieldWall combines the optimum combination of high puncture protection and low rolling resistance with low weight. This is made possible by an additional, all-round puncture protection layer, which consists of a finely woven cross fabric

  • Performance

    The Performance casing is designed with longevity, durability and intensive use in mind

Compound (choose from the following)

  • Black Chili MTB

    Black Chili is continental's signature compound, and uses the latest knowledge and technological advancements to maximise grip and traction while keeping it fast rolling and durable. Depending on the intended use of the tyre, the blend is adjusted from gravity orientated soft grip, all the way up to fast rolling race tyres

  • Pure Grip

    Based on activated silica compounds, this technology was originally intended as a performance level compound, but after intensive development at their German R&D facility, an advanced new compound with outstanding grip, elasticity and rolling properties was developed
